Both of my nephews are avid outdoors men and fish extensively with their father. Due to the way the handle is made they loved it, The rod coming out of the handle handle seems to give them greater sensitivity and they have caught hundreds of fish on this pole. They live in Missouri and do a lot of bass, perch and crappie. I also think since the pole is a bit more unusual in appearance they seem to think it's special and tend to take better care of it which is good because as typical boys they are quite rough on everything. It's a very nice looking pole. My Daughter loves the color, she is rough on things and has not broken this pole (yet). The action is decent enough for trout, pan fish and small bass. She has had not problem landing fish up to 2 pounds. Hook set is a little slow because the action is not super fast.
