Do not purchase. ADDENDUM: Upon further effort (read, fooling around with their automated system in order to talk to a person), I spoke to an employee who expressed disbelief at the failure and offered to replace the rod at no cost other than shipping the broken rod to them. Score has been changed to reflect this.I have two concerns. The first, more minor concern, is that the case is a poor fit for the product. It appears to be the same case used for the Trailmaster Fly Rod, which means that the rod cannot be stored in the case with the reel attached. If I'm going to have to take the reel off, I'd just as soon not have the big side pouch, because the side-zip opening makes it much more difficult to insert the rod pieces than in a tube with an opening end, such as what came with my Okuma Citrix travel casting rod. I put 6lb trilene xl on it and it stayed together with a 6 lb large mouth hooked to it! If thats not good enough for a light weight travel rod then tell me what is? The graphite rod breaks down small enough to be in your pack and it is sensitive enough for mountain lake trout from 6" and upward in size. The reel is also of good quality and loaded with 6# line is very good for lakes and streams. First time out this combo caught 4 trout of various sizes. It casts well and the 4-piece rod stays together when casting. Case is also first rate, though you must remove the reel each time for it to fit. Love the product for taking with me for hikes to the high lakes areas. |
