It has the right mass to counterbalance rods in the 5-6-7w range. The drag is sturdy, smooth and easily adjustable.All-in-all a very good value! One caveat: It did not come with a "protective cloth bag". Calling South Bend with no hazzel they replaced it with this reel. It seems solid and well built so will put line on it and give it a try. I certaintly was pleased the way the replacement was handled so have high hopes for this reel when my split bambo rod will be repaired. |
