I am using it for trolling in and around boat moorings in marinas from a kayak. Its heavy action makes it stiff enough to drop 1 oz drop shot yet it has enough sensitivity to feel the bite. The 6' 1-piece rod makes all this possible, but shipping a one piece rod is another story. Amazon shipped it in a plastic bag and when it arrived the hook keeper loop was all bent out of shape and the reel had a few dents in it from being thrown around by UPS. I would think again about purchasing a 1-piece rod from Amazon.  quality rod but throw away the the reel, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Shakespeare One-Piece Heavy Action Classic 4 Size Combo (6-Feet) (Sports) This heavy duty ugly stik is fantastic considering the low price but you need to throw away the reel,it does not do the rod justice. I got rid of the reel and hooked it up with a Penn SSM 850 which was a perfect match. For the rod alone it's a definitely 5 tar. Then again for under 50 bucks i didn't expect much for the reel. |
