The Pflueger Trion GX7 reel is perfectly paired with a Trion IM8 graphite spinning rod. With a lightweight graphite body and rotor and six stainless steel ball bearings, the GX7 blends strength and smoothness. An instant antireverse, oneway clutch bearing gives you instant hooksets. Every reel has a SureClick Bail, a smooth front drag system with stainless steel and oiled felt washers and audible drag adjustment and a large diameter titanium bearing line roller that helps prevent line twist. The anodized aluminum spool and titanium spool lip provided added line protection. And these reels also have a corrosionresistant stainless steel main shaft and components and a machined aluminum handle with rosewood knob. These highmodulus, graphite rods sport blankthroughhandle construction for added strength and sensitivity. Each has premium Fuji Guide¬ and reel seats, as well as topgrade cork grips for easy gripping and comfort. All rods also have a protective rubber butt and a hook keeper. I have to say this combo is AWESOME! I own a 6' 6" Shakespeare Pro-Am combo that I've had for 23 years. The first time I used the Pflueger, it was like going from an old beat up (but dependable) jalopy, to a Ferrari! It works as beautiful as it looks. With a gear ratio of 5.2:1, just makes this reel so smooth and A LOT faster than I expected. I mainly purchased this combo for lure fishing off a pier, but I can easily see that this one could become my primary combo. Plueger is a GREAT company that's been around since 1881! Not too many companies can say that, and being around that long, THEY KNOW HOW TO CREATE A GREAT PRODUCT! I might take it away... lol, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Pflueger Trion GX 7 Spinning Combo (Sports) After using my Pflueger President XT for months in saltwater, I purchased my 5 year old this rod/reel for his birthday present- he LOVED it, and it's built tough enough to handle his abuse- I threw it half the day out and felt it was just as good and lighter than by bigger reel, perfect for inshore trout and smaller redfish. He had no trouble learning the spinning reel, I'd say it's a good backup rod and I may even use it for slashbaits/twitchbaits because it's much lighter and takes less effort than my heavier gear.
